What is the daily charge to board my pet?

How are boarding charges calculated?
Daily charges are per pet / per day (regardless of what time your pet arrives or departs)
What are your business hours?
We are open 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, and from 8:30am to 3:00pm on Saturday.
We are open on Sundays between the hours of 4pm and 5pm for collection of your pet and drop offs.
We are closed on ALL Public Holidays and some selected dates throughout the year.
Our popular Pet Taxi Service runs from 6am to 8am Monday to Friday. It does not operate on weekends.
Do you have a minimum stay during peak periods?
Yes, during peak periods – Easter, Christmas and New Years each year.
Easter bookings requires a 5-day minimum stay for boarding.
Christmas and New Years (Dec 15th – Jan 20) requires a 10-day minimum stay for boarding.
For the remainder of the year (off peak period), the minimum stay period is not applicable however please enquire with us for availability.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
A booking fee/deposit is required for ALL bookings including Easter, Christmas, New Years and during the School Holidays
Please refer to our terms and conditions emailed to you upon booking for further information, or feel free to ask one of our friendly staff.
What happens if I need to extend or reduce my pets stay while I’m away?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to collect your pet earlier or later than their original departure date. Our staff follow check out procedures before departure and we need to plan this accordingly.
If you need to pick up your pet earlier than originally booked…
OFF PEAK PERIODS: you will only be charged for days your pet stayed with us
PEAK PERIODS: you will be charged for all the days originally booked (minimum stay requirement)
At any stage throughout the year, we are certainly able to extend your pets stay assuming we have the availability.
I’ll be leaving for my holiday early in the morning, how can I get my pet to Homestead?
Easy! Our popular Pet Taxi (pickup and delivery) service will solve the problem. This service is available Monday to Friday 6:00-8:00am. We are always on time.
What happens if my pet gets sick or injured during their stay?
Where possible, we will always try to get to your vet but if distance and time become an issue, we have access to several 24 hour vets close by in an emergency.
Will my pet be warm?
Yes, our kennels and cattery are indoors, insulated and temperature controlled, providing a comfortable environment. Your pet will be warm in winter and kept cool in summer.
Do I need to provide my pets food and bedding for their stay?
Homestead will provide all meals for your pet during their stay. We supply Royal Canin dry food that provides a nutritionally complete and balanced diet. If your pup is a fussy eater, has a sensitive stomach or is on a vet prescribed diet, we recommend you pre-package and provide their own food for their stay. (additional fees may apply if meals are not pre-portioned). Please fill in the Diet Authority Form detailing your pet’s food requirements.
Bedding is not required as we supply, launder, and clean all bedding daily.
My dog is spoilt, will they be lonely?

My dog is a fussy eater, what do you feed them?
We supply Royal Canin dry food that provides a nutritionally complete and balanced diet. If your pup is a fussy eater, has a sensitive stomach or is on a vet prescribed diet, we recommend you pre-package and provide their own food for their stay. (additional fees may apply if meals are not pre-portioned). Please fill in the Diet Authority Form detailing your pet’s food requirements.
Will my dog have enough room to move about in the kennel?
Yes, all our kennels are legally big enough for two dogs to stay in. We also have multiple day yards and many large exercise yards too.
My dog is very friendly, can they board with a friend?
We can only mix two dogs if the owner’s consent and the two dogs are compatible.
Under no circumstances will more than two dogs be boarded together because of Victorian State Government boarding regulations.
What vaccinations will my dog require?
We require a C5 vaccination for all dogs onsite. C5 vaccination covers Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo Virus and Canine Cough. The vaccination must be current within the last 12 months.
Will my cat be on its own? I have seen catteries where 10-15 cats share a common pen…
Yes, if you have one cat. Cats from different households are never mixed, however two cats from the same family can share the same pen if compatible to do so.
What do you feed cats?
Our feline guests are fed Royal Canin dry food twice a day, providing a nutritionally complete and balanced diet. A selection of quality wet foods is available for our fussier guests or owners can provide their own pre-portioned meals (additional fees may apply). What vaccinations should my cat have?
We require F3 or F4 vaccinations for all cats onsite. Your vet will advise you on levels of vaccinations.
Board & Train
Can my dog be trained while boarding?
Yes. We have various Boarding & Training programs to cater for your needs. Please enquire about our programs through our Board & Train website: www.boardandtrain.com.au
Will my dog obey me when it comes home?
Throughout your dog’s Board and Train program we will train your dog multiple times each day. At the conclusion, we will conduct a hand-over lesson to make sure you know how to control and maintain your dog’s behaviour once they return home.
My dog has already been through a Board and Train program; can he have Refresher Training when boarding next time?
Certainly, many owners take the opportunity to have Refresher Training for their dog during their next stay.
